Really?
This past Wednesday started out like a regular day. I ate breakfast, showered, dressed, and went to AEI to help with placement testing, as it is orientation week for their summer session.
That morning, the director pulled me aside and asked if I would like to teach another class in addition to the two that I was already scheduled to teach. Enrollment for summer is high and classes need to be taught. Mind you, agreeing to teach this additional class not only puts me up to full-time equivalencey (FTE), but it actually puts me over 1.0 FTE to 1.11 FTE. My initial plan for the summer was to teach at .39 FTE and work part-time at my other job. This offer changed that plan.
What does this mean in plain English (pun intended)? It means that my dream job just plopped itself into my lap, like a purring kitty at an animal humane society. “Will you take me?”
Of course I will!
I resigned from my other job and as of today, I am a (more than) full-time, AEI English Instructor, salaried and benefited faculty member at the UO! Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!
It is hard to believe that this has all happened this week. I really loved teaching at the AEI this past spring term and now I get to do it full-time++? For reals? A job that I love just landed in my lap and I accepted it? Really? My years of hard work are finally proving to be worth the money, pain, suffering, mental strife and efforts? Yaaaaaaaaaaay!
I am so cheeseheadedly happy with all of the fortunes that have been bestowed onto me. I am so grateful to be married to my best friend and love, to have a job that I love, our new house, and for being able to slowly recover from my first and train for my second marathon. I have good health, good, friends, a wonderful family, and two very cute kitties. Yaaaay life!
We’ll be heading up to Seattle this weekend to visit Kat and Justin and to see my good friend from high school, Erik, get married to his college sweetheart! Guuuuu!
Wow! WOW! AWESOME!
